Learn Why Growing Cannabis Yourself is Getting so Popular

Growing cannabis is an excellent recreational hobby. Some do it as a medical tool and to save money. Legalization of marijuana makes it far easier to purchase, as you can walk into a dispensary and buy some. However, dispensaries have their drawbacks.

Growing Cannabis is Better Than Dispensing

Going to a dispensary often means paying a premium to get legal marijuana that has been grown to the strict requirements of the state that you are in. You are also limited to what strains you can get and to buying in cash as shops are not allowed to take debit or credit yet. Due to the drawbacks of using a dispensary many people are opting to grow their cannabis, let’s take a look at some of the reasons it is so popular.

You Have The Control

Growing cannabis gives you almost complete control over the product, you can grow the amount you need, all in very little room. Some of the homes grown setups are some of the best cannabis grown out there as people get very creative in their design and they are heavily invested in the outcome of the grow.

Further, you get to decide exactly what strain of weed you want to grow. With a wide variety of seed banks accessible through the internet and dispensaries, it is possible to get seeds for most types of marijuana. You can also pick whether you want to continue growing the same strain and switch it up whenever you want.

What it comes down to is the fact that growing marijuana at home gives you full control over the end product, unlike buying it from the store. At a dispensary, you have to take someone else’s word for how the weed was grown.

Learning is Easy and Fun

Learning to grow marijuana is relatively easy, there are plenty of resources out there from local experts to online guides. More resources are also becoming available as learning to grow your own weed is becoming more popular. Some states even have in-person classes to help you learn to seed, grow, and harvest marijuana.

Many people who learn the process of growing cannabis make it lifetime a hobby. Once you get a few grow’s under your belt, the process becomes easier. It is much like any other type of gardening, just with an end product that you can use. Just like with any other hobby, you will learn more as you continue to experiment with your growing setup.

Savings in the Long Run

Buying weed from a dispensary can get expensive pretty quickly, from the high cost set by the shop to the taxes taken by the state. Growing your marijuana can be a big cost-saver as time goes on. At first thought, you may be put off by the initial price but think twice.

In the beginning, you have to invest in buying grow equipment, soil, setting up a room, and buying the first set of seeds from a seed bank. This starts to add up quickly but most of it is a one time cost, especially if you buy quality equipment. After you are set up the only thing you need to buy is some soil every now and then and new seeds when you need/want them. With heat lamps, your electric bill may go up a little but for a personal grow at home, it shouldn’t have a significant impact.

Learning to grow your own marijuana was bound to become this popular when the cost of purchasing from a dispensary became so high. It’s intriging to learn growing cannabis though, as you get to have something to be proud of and to enjoy. Something that you made.

He has been writing in-depth articles about cannabis in Canada for decades and looks forward to continue bringing you cutting edge cannabis strains for the decades to come.
