5 UNUSUAL WAYS TO CONSUME CBD

The CBD industry is full of pioneers. From Dr Raphael Mechoulam, who was the first to isolate CBD and describe its chemical structure, to the first CBD brand that decided that marketing CBD was a good idea, the compound has come a long way.

Most people still choose the mainstream CBD products: CBD oil, CBD capsules etc. However, as the market expands, new products are constantly being introduced. Over time, these products are becoming more and more unique – and downright bizarre.

Nevertheless, there is a market for ‘unique’ CBD products, and some consumers really like them. Today we take a look at five unusual ways of consuming CBD. Let’s see what you think…

  • CBD bath products

The CBD skincare industry is booming. It started with CBD topical products and has evolved into full-fledged lotions, face creams and CBD moisturisers.

Now it seems that CBD bath products have become the pinnacle of the market. Bath bombs and bath salts have started to appear on the internet, the former being slightly more common.

Bathing in a CBD bath is probably the best way to use CBD topically. Rather than using it in one place, CBD will anoint your whole body. In addition, these products are rich in essential oils that will relax you and help you unwind.

With topical preparations, CBD penetrates through the layers of the skin to reach the cannabinoid receptors located near the surface. This is thought to promote clear and healthy skin, which is why many skincare enthusiasts rave about the glow these products provide. If you’re interested in topical preparations, then a CBD bath for the whole body may be the way to go.

  • CBD inhalers

CBD vapour inhalation is becoming an increasingly popular method of consumption as it avoids the taste of cannabis and works very quickly. In fact, CBD inhalation is one of the fastest ways to take CBD, and CBD is said to be highly bioavailable.

However, there are concerns about the safety of inhalation. Although proponents claim that it is safer than smoking (because there is no combustion), there are still concerns about all the ingredients (i.e. propylene glycol) in vape products.

For these reasons, some companies have started producing CBD inhalers. They resemble asthma inhalers and can be used in the same way but contain a compressed form of CBD aerosol.

This may be a safer alternative to vaping and smoking but still matches the effectiveness of inhalation methods.

CBD inhalers are currently a rare find. They are being tested for CBD-based medicines and are often used in this context rather than as a food supplement. Hopefully, over time, CBD inhalers will become more common and widespread.

  • CBD toothpicks

CBD toothpicks are something we see more and more of lately. It’s almost like regular toothpicks but filled with CBD – and delicious flavours. However, you probably won’t pick your teeth with them because CBD toothpicks are more for chewing.

To use, chew each end of the toothpick to release a steady stream of CBD. This slow release is beneficial for some users, and we’ve heard stories that for those who often feel anxious, the physical act of chewing is quite calming.

The bioavailability of toothpicks is quite good due to the fact that the toothpick is in the mouth for so long and works. CBD can be taken up into the saliva and quickly reach the ECS via the oral capillaries.

  • CBD suppositories

It’s safe to say that CBD suppositories are the most ‘unique’ product on this list. Apparently, some companies like to cover all bases. (Interestingly, the suppositories are taken orally or vaginally).

The suppositories are said to be effective because the CBD can be absorbed into the bloodstream through anal or vaginal capillaries. Suppositories may be useful for those who have difficulty swallowing capsules and edible substances. It’s true that they’re not suitable for everyone, but do not write them off!

Of course, if you decide to use CBD suppositories, it’s important to pay attention to hygiene. Check that the candles are of good quality and make sure that everything is clean when using them.

  • CBD makeup

Similar to CBD skincare products, CBD makeup has entered the scene with great impact. We’re not talking about face creams here; we’re talking about concealers, foundations and mascaras. For example, products such as Milk Makeup’s KUSH Mascara have proven to be quite popular.

In fact, we understand CBD foundation more than CBD mascara – at least it has an effect on the skin. Milk Makeup claims that KUSH Mascara is more ‘conditioning’ than other mascaras, so maybe that’s the charm.

Final thoughts: Where is CBD heading?

In summary, as the industry evolves, we see more and more unique CBD products such as the ones mentioned above. These products are not completely ‘weird’. They are just a little more unique than the standard CBD oil. Of course, they’re all perfectly usable and are favoured by many consumers.

In general, when it comes to CBD, the sky’s the limit. We suspect that CBD products will become more and more diverse over time as brands try to out-compete each other. Only time will tell where CBD products will end up, but we are very much looking forward to what comes next.
